Task force sting results in arrest of suspected heroin dealer

LIMA — A Lima man arrested for allegedly selling fentanyl and heroin to an undercover informant working for the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force entered pleas of not guilty Friday to nine charges pending against him.

The recent session of the Allen County grand jury charged Kedrick Q.D. Sanders Jr., 21, of Lima, with two counts of corrupting another with drugs, felonies of the second degree; two counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies; one count of aggravated trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony; one count of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony; one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and two counts of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, one third-degree felony and one fourth-degree felony.

The charges stem from incidents that took place on Christmas day of 2017 and again two days later, when a task force informant allegedly purchased the illegal drugs from Sanders. The first undercover buy took place on Dec. 25 at “an apartment off Cole Street,” according to court records. The second purchase, during which the informant was wearing an electronic listening device and was under surveillance by task force officers, took place at Wally’s Fillin’ Station at the intersection of Brower Street and North Cole Street in Lima. According to court records, Sanders on that occasion sold $40 worth of fentanyl — approximately .6 grams — to the informant.

Following the sale, task force officers moved in to arrest Sanders, but the suspect fled in his vehicle. After a 30-minute pursuit, the chase ended at 1503 Harding Highway and Sanders and a passenger in the vehicle, Darnell Riley-Bracey, were taken into custody.
