OEA grant extension expires in March

LIMA — Attendees of the Task Force Lima meeting Monday at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center discussed information regarding Ohio defense spending, electronic communications, JSMC Plant and product upgrades, tours of the facility, and Phase II of the Office of Economic Adjustment grant.

Since the last meeting, Cynthia Leis, Allen County Project Manager of the Defense Community Assistance Program, was able to extend Phase II of the OEA grant, funds that were provided to better the Lima region.

The grant was extended for an additional 30 days and will officially end on March 31. The final report is due at the end of June, and OEA Project Manager Jason Sweat and OEA Program Director Michael Gilroy intend to visit during that month as well.

By the end of March there will be a digital workshop, which be funded by the final stages of the communications plan through the grant. All reimbursements will be submitted, and on April 1, Leis will be transitioning back to an Allen Economic Development Group staff member.

After the grant, Leis said that the focus will be on management and sustainability with all of the initiatives that were put into place.
