Dentist charged with drugging woman, sexual contact

NEW PHILADELPHIA — A 37-year-old dentist has been indicted on charges of corrupting another with drugs and gross sexual imposition in connection with an incident in which he allegedly drugged a woman before having sexual contact with her.

Victor H. Nguyen declined to speak with a reporter about the indictment Friday on grounds that he wanted to talk with his lawyer first. He is scheduled to be arraigned March 22 before Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Elizabeth Lehigh Thomakos.

The alleged crime occurred in New Philadelphia.

It was not clear Friday whether Nguyen was still in practice as a dentist. Individuals who answered phones at three businesses previously associated with him said he no longer worked there, did not work there, or that the office had closed. Calls were placed to dental practices in Canton, New Philadelphia and Steubenville.

Corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony, carries the potential for two to eight years in prison and a $15,000 fine. Gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, can be punished by six to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
