Casey’s at Shawnee Road gets second chance

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — After Shawnee United Methodist Church came out to protest against a Casey’s General Store at the intersection of Shawnee and Zurmehly roads at a Shawnee Township Boarding of Zoning Appeals meeting roughly a month ago, Casey’s will get a second chance due to legal provisions in the Ohio Revised Code that require the board to vote on the measure.

Casey’s needs a zoning variance in order to fit in the property. The variance was tabled when board members refused to second the motion needed to vote on the measure. Shawnee Trustee Dave Belton said the reaction doesn’t follow what is legally required of the board, and they must take a vote on the measure before the matter is laid to rest.

The public zoning board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at Apollo Career Center, 3325 Shawnee Road.
