LIMA — The Lima Fire Department responded to back to back fires Monday afternoon.
The Lima Fire Department responded to the first call, an electrical fire at 134 W. Haller St., at 3:38 p.m.
“The fire started in the wall space and burned through,” said Battalion Chief Greg Kirkendall.
When firefighters arrived on scene, the resident had exited the building and light smoke and flames were visible from the lower floor and attic, Kirkendall said.
There were no injuries reported. The first and second floor of the home sustained considerable damage estimated at $5,000, Kirkendall said. According to the Allen County Auditor’s website, the property is owned by James and Lester Raymond and is valued at $18,700.
The fire department received the second call at 5:05 p.m. at 480 W. Robb Ave.
The occupants were alerted to smoke coming from the basement by a smoke detector, Kirkendall said. Firefighters arrived on scene and found electronic devices, including two box fans, on fire in the basement, he said.
No injuries were reported.
The basement sustained smoke damage, with light damage to the first floor, but no structural damage. The total damage was estimated at $2,000. The Allen County Auditor’s website has Glen Hankins, Sr., listed as the owner of the property, which is valued at $26,900.
