Garrett files to run for Congress for 3rd time

OBERLIN — Janet Garrett (D-Oberlin) will officially face incumbent U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan this November. Garrett filed her candidacy Tuesday.

Garret has run twice against Jordan, and both times, has lost the race by a wide margin. Garret is a retired teacher from Lorain County, the easternmost county in the 4th Congressional District.

“If progressives want to be successful and bring about meaningful change, we need to run everywhere —even where we know it will be difficult to win —because when we campaign on the issues that matter to people, we have the conversations essential to a competitive, healthy and functioning democracy,” Garrett said.

The 4th Congressional District, where Allen and Auglaize counties are located, is considered a safe Republican seat.
