Manchester, Faber file candidacy for 84th District House seat

WAYNESFIELD — Auglaize County local Susan Manchester (R-Waynesfield) and Mercer County Attorney Travis Faber (R-Celina) have filed their candidacies to run for Ohio’s 84th House District seat, which represents portions of Auglaize, Darke and Shelby counties and the entirety of Mercer County.

Manchester attended Ohio State University and has spent almost five years working for Rep. Jim Jordan in Washington D.C. as a legislative assistant. Most recently, she worked as the community outreach director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio. According to Manchester’s campaign, she is a pro-life, pro-second amendment fiscal conservative.

“I’ve found that across the board people are frustrated by politicians who completely lose sight of who they are, where they came from, and the people who elected them once they are in office,” Manchester said. “My experiences working for Congressman Jordan have shown me the importance of staying true to the district that elected you and making sure that voters know their voice, values and experiences matter.”

Faber, the nephew of the 84th District’s current State Rep. Keith Faber, currently practices law at Faber & Associates in Celina, where he focuses on civil litigation and business law. According to Faber’s campaign, his legal duties have given him firsthand experience in how regulations harm business.

“We need a strong voice in Columbus who will be able to defend our community’s values. A voice that will protect our strong independent schools and a voice that will make sure our local communities get the resources they need,” Faber said. ” … I’ve seen just how harmful job-killing regulations can be. As someone who grew up in a small business household, I want to help our job creators and farmers grow and thrive.”

Currently, Manchester and Faber will compete for the Republican primary this May against Aaron Heilers.
