Lima man enters not guilty plea in vehicular homicide case

LIMA — Patrick Hull, 24, of Lima, appeared before Judge Jeffrey Reed in Allen County Common Pleas Court Monday morning and entered pleas of not guilty to a first-degree felony charge of vehicular homicide as well as multiple counts of first-degree misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

The charges stem from an Aug. 5 traffic accident in Allen County that claimed the life of Holly C. Mooney, 23, of Lima. A pre-trial hearing was set for 3 p.m. on Dec. 18.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Hull was driving on Bluelick Road when he reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle on the right and lost control of his vehicle, causing it to cross the center line and strike a utility pole before overturning and coming to rest in a field. Hull was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Mooney was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital and was then care-flighted to Promedica Hospital in Toledo. She died three days later of injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities said at the time of the accident that alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the accident.

Hull is represented by Attorney John Fisher. If found guilty of the aggravated vehicular homicide charge, he faces up to 11 years in prison.
