Remains found in Coventry Twp. yard human, official confirms

AKRON — The remains of a body found in Coventry Township on Saturday were human, the Summit County Medical Examiner confirmed Sunday.

On Saturday, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home on Linda Street after someone found what appeared to be deteriorated human remains.

Jackie Kaylor, a neighbor of the residence, said one of the people who lives in the home found remains in a tote bag in the backyard.

“It’s sick. I’ve known these people for over 20 years,” Kaylor said. “It’s absolutely devastating. I just can’t believe this is all real.”

Kaylor said officials were on the scene from about 1 p.m. to midnight on Saturday “carrying different bags of things from outside the house and backyard.”

The medical examiner has not yet confirmed the identity of the person. They expect to conduct the autopsy Tuesday.

A woman was arrested at the scene, according to WKYC-Ch. 3.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office could not be reached Sunday.
