Snowy roads result in a wave of fender benders

LIMA —It didn’t snow a lot Saturday, but it made a slippery mess of the roads and kept law enforcement agencies across the region extra busy.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office reported upwards of 25 accidents by late afternoon. None of them were serious.

The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol also reported a few accidents. Most notably, an accident on Spencerville Road between Kemp and Coon roads resulted in two people being taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima with injuries after their van slid on icy roads, went off into a ditch and struck a tree.

Snow flurries are expected through Wednesday with temperature dipping to a low of 12 degrees on Tuesday. Expect a warm-up to 41 degrees on Saturday.
