FBI mum on probe into former Allen County sheriff

CLEVELAND — Vicki Anderson, special agent with the Cleveland office of the FBI, last week continued to decline comment surrounding the agency’s investigation into unspecified activities of former Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish.

Agents from the FBI entered Crish’s office Sept. 7, 2016, armed with a search warrant, setting off a chain of events that led to Crish’s resignation less than four months later.

But the status of the FBI’s investigation into Crish remains a mystery. FBI officials for more than a year have refused to discuss the reasons behind their search, what agents were looking for, and how long their investigation might continue.

That trend continued this week.

“There’s nothing I can say publicly,” Anderson said. “When things are available to be made public we will certainly do that, but at this time that is not the case.”
