CASA to host open house, launch fundraising efforts

LIMA — CASA of Allen and Putnam Counties will participate in #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, a day set aside to educate the community on the mission of the Court Appointed Special Advocates program and to raise funds to support the efforts of CASA volunteers’ advocacy for abused and neglected children.

CASA of Allen and Putnam Counties has set a goal of 741 donations — a figure equal to the number of children served by the program since its inception. For each $25 donation, donors will receive a coupon sheet of incentives from area businesses that include Shirley’s Popcorn, Milano Café, Red Pig Inn, Rowdy Rooster, Wonderfully Made Boutique and The Bent Spoon Bakery.

To kick off #GivingTuesday and celebrate the agency’s move to its new location at 234 N. Main St., CASA of Allen and Putnam Counties will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Monday. CASA officials invite the community to tour the new facility, which allows the program to expand to increase both the number of volunteers and the number of children served.

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday giving season and to inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their communities. To learn about the #GivingCASA initiative, visit http://casaoflima.org.
