Heavy damage in 2nd Street fire

LIMA — A Lima home was nearly destroyed after fire broke out Saturday afternoon.

According to acting Capt. Dale Schultheis with the Lima Fire Department, they were called to 1003 E. Second St. just after 2:30 p.m. on the report of a house fire.

When they arrived, they found heavy fire on the front porch and in the living room.

Nobody was at home at the time of the blaze.

There were no injuries.

Fire investigators were looking into the cause and said they believe it could be related to electric space heaters, which were used in the living room and in an enclosed front porch.

Total damages were listed at $18,000.

The home itself is worth $22,000 according to Schultheis.
