Monday fire destroys
pickup truck in Lima
LIMA — A 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was totaled in a fire Monday afternoon.
The Lima Fire Department was called out at 4:37 p.m. for a pickup truck on fire at 2087 Idlewild Drive. According to Fire Department officials, Deborah Johnson started her 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck and proceeded to pull out of her driveway when she noticed smoke coming out of the dashboard. Johnson pulled back into her driveway and tried to put the fire out herself, but was not successful. The fire also melted portions of the siding on the house. The Lima Fire Department was on scene until 5:42 p.m.
Officials said the Dodge Dakota was a total loss and with the melted siding estimated a total of $15,000 in damage. Johnson does have insurance. She was not injured.
