Charges pending after task force finds cocaine, cash

LIMA — An arrest was pending after the execution of a search warrant at a Lima residence Thursday that turned up cocaine, marijuana and cash.

According to a statement from the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, investigators went to a home at 1580 N. Main St. in Lima on Thursday in reference to a follow-up investigation into another matter. Persons in the home at the time, according to the statement, included Chivas Shurelds, Scott Shurelds and several small children.

While at the residence, investigators said they smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana. An affidavit and search warrant were prepared and were presented to Judge David Cheney of Allen County Common Pleas Court who authorized the execution of a search warrant at the residence.

The search was conducted at about 7 p.m. Thursday, during which investigators located some 45 grams of suspected cocaine, one pound of marijuana and $1,580 in U.S. currency.

No arrests were made that day, but a spokesperson for the task force said Chivas Shurelds is the only suspect and that charges will be filed against him. The investigation was ongoing, according to the statement.
