Lima Junior Service League to distribute books

LIMA — More than 2,000 books will be distributed to 1,100 kindergartners, first-graders and second-graders in seven elementary schools this week by the Lima Junior Service League.

Perry, Elida, Unity, Heritage, Freedom, Liberty and Independence schools are those included in the event. They events are not open to the public. In addition to book distributions, the service league has made monetary donations to area school libraries and the Lima Public Library.

The Lima Junior Service League has donated more than $20,000 worth of books and money to the Lima area this year to support children’s literacy.

The schedule for book distributions is: 9 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Arts Magnet; 9 a.m. Wednesday at Independence Elementary and Heritage Elementary; 9 a.m. Thursday at Elida Elementary; 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Perry Elementary; and 9 a.m. Friday at Unity Elementary and Elida Elementary.
