The following individuals were sentenced in Allen County Common Pleas Court:
DeShawn Mech, 24, of Lima, was sentenced by Judge Jeffrey Reed to 180 days in the Allen County jail on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. The sentence was suspended. The charge was reduced from a fifth-degree felony.
Ravon Upthegrove, 27, of Lima, was sentenced to two years on probation by Reed on a charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. A fourth-degree felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon was dismissed.
Shawn Brunk, 29, of Lima, was sentenced by Judge David A. Cheney to three years of probation with a referral to the WORTH Center for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or a drug of abuse. Any time served in WORTH will be concurrent with time served on community control. Brunk was fined $2,500 and his driver’s license was suspended for five years.
Treynton Betts, 19, of Cincinnati, was sentenced by Reed to three years of probation and a referral to the WORTH Center after pleading guilty to a second-degree felony charge of burglary. He was ordered to pay restitution to the victim in the amount of $1,676.
Joel Henderson, 36, of Lima, was sentenced by Cheney to 10 days in jail, to be served on weekends, and 20 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of attempted aggravated possession of drugs. He was also fined $500. Henderson was initially charged with fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs.
Malik K. Morris, 26, of Lima, was sentenced on two counts of assault, third-degree felonies, and possession of a deadly weapon while under detention, a fourth-degree felony. Cheney sentenced Morris to a total of 36 months in prison, to be served consecutively to the remainder of a term Morris is serving out of Mahoning County. He will be on probation for three years after his release.
Angela Pierson, 53, of Lima, received a suspended one-year prison term and was placed on probation for three years after pleading guilty to the illegal use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or WIC program benefits. The charge is a felony of the fifth-degree. Cheney ordered Pierson to undergo a mental health evaluation and to pay restitution in the amount of $121 to the Allen County Department of Job and Family Services.
Brady E. Durr, 40, of Lima, was sentenced to 120 days in jail — with work release available after 10 days — and four years on probation after pleading guilty to a charge of attempted grand theft, a fifth-degree felony. A 12-month prison term was suspended by Cheney but could be reimposed if Durr fails to abide by the conditions of his probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $8,832 to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
