Road construction and maintenance projects

Allen County

State Route 696 from just east of Swaney Road to just north of the village of Beaverdam will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair and resurfacing. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.

The following roads will be closed as part of culvert replacement projects along state Route 309. The closures at each location are expected to be in place for approximately two days. Closure dates and length are approximate and are weather dependent. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage:

Monday, August 14 – Napoleon Road on the south side of state Route 309 will be closed

Wednesday, August 16 – Pevee Road on the north side of state Route 309 will be closed

State Route 117 just east of Thayer Road will close August 5 for approximately seven days for pipeline casing removal. Traffic detoured to Interstate 75, state Route 65 and state Route 67 back to state Route 117. Work is being performed by Bolin Inc., Casey, Ill.

State Route 117 in the village of Spencerville closed July 5 for approximately 60 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 66, state Route 197 and state Route 198 back to state Route 117. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation, Celina.

Bridge Work over I-75

Interstate 75, and also Bentley Road and Napoleon Road will be affected during bridge deck replacements on Napoleon Road over Interstate 75, Beaverdam, and Bentley Road over Interstate 75, Bluffton. The following are current impacts related to the project:

Napoleon Road

Napoleon Road bridge over I-75 closed May 22 and will remain closed until late fall.

Traffic detoured onto Sugar Creek Road, Swaney Road and Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to Napoleon Road.

The northbound exit ramp from Interstate 75 to Napoleon Road closed May 30 until late fall.

Traffic detoured north on Interstate 75, east on Lincoln Highway (state Route 696), south on Swaney Road and west on Sugar Creek Road back to Napoleon Road; or west onto Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to S. West Street in Beaverdam.

The entrance ramp to Interstate 75 southbound from Napoleon Road will remain open.

Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 75 wishing to access state Route 696 are advised to do so via exit 135 (state Route 696/U.S. 30) at Beaverdam. No access to state Route 696 from Interstate 75 northbound at the Napoleon Road exit will be available.

Bentley Road (exit 140)

Two bridges on Bentley Road at exit 140 (one over Interstate 75 and one over the railroad north of Interstate 75) closed June 5 until late October.

Both the southbound entrance and exit ramps at Bentley Road also closed on June 5 until late October.

Interstate 75 northbound traffic will be detoured to the state Route 103 (exit 142) interchange back to Bentley Road.

Interstate 75 southbound traffic is advised to access Bentley Road via the state Route 103 interchange (exit 142) and follow state Route 103 through Bluffton back to Bentley Road.

The northbound ramps at the interchange remain open; however, left turns onto Bentley Road from northbound Interstate 75 are not permitted.

Interstate 75

Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound will be periodically reduced to one lane at times beneath both the Napoleon Road and Bentley Road bridge structures during certain operations related to construction.

Lane closures will occur sporadically and are expected to occur mostly during daytime hours but some nighttime closures may occur.

Auglaize County

I-75 between State Route 219 and Breese Road, Nightly lane closures August 6th – October 31st between the hours of 6 pm and 7 am. One lane will remain open in each direction.

State Route 119 between State Route 716 and State Route 66, Daily lane closures July 24th – August 25th between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction.

State Route 274 between State Route 364 and State Route 29, Daily lane closures July 24th – August 25th between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction.

State Route 117 between State Route 67 and State Route 196, Daily lane closures July 24th – August 25th between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction.

State Route 116 at Deep Cut Road, ROAD CLOSURE August 14th – 16th. The official detour is: State Route 197 to State Route 66 to State Route 117.

State Route 197 over the Auglaize River, Annual bridge inspections August 23rd between the hours of 8 am- 12 pm. Single lane closures will be in effect while crews evaluate the bridge. One lane of traffic will remain open during inspections.

State Route 198 over the Auglaize River, Annual bridge inspections August 23rd between the hours of 8 12 pm-4pm. Single lane closures will be in effect while crews evaluate the bridge. One lane of traffic will remain open during inspections.

State Route 197 over the St. Marys River, Annual bridge inspections August 23rd between the hours of 8 am- 12 pm. Single lane closures will be in effect while crews evaluate the bridge. One lane of traffic will remain open during inspections.

State Route 116 over the St. Marys River, Annual bridge inspections August 23rd between the hours of 12 pm- 4pm. Single lane closures will be in effect while crews evaluate the bridge. One lane of traffic will remain open during inspections.

US 33 between State Route 65 and State Route 366, Daily lane closures August 21st – October 15th between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

State Route 364 between State Route 219 and State Route 703, Daily lane closures August 21st – October 15th between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

Hancock County

State Route 235 from the Hardin County line to county Road 304 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair and resurfacing. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.

State Route 12 just east of Benton Ridge closed July 17 for approximately 60 days for a bridge deck repair. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 235, U.S. 224 and Interstate 75 back to state Route 12. Work is being performed by Global Outdoor Solutions, Cleveland.

Resurfacing of the following routes within the city of Findlay will restrict traffic to one lane through the work zone. Work is being performed by M&B Asphalt, Old Fort.

State Route 568 from Main Street to Beech Avenue

State Route 37 from Lincoln Avenue to Blanchard Avenue

Paving on state Route 37 and state Route 568 will not be completed until August to allow work by the city of Findlay to take place.

U.S. 68 from the Findlay airport to Eagle Creek, south of Findlay, will have daily lane closures in both directions beginning August 12 for installation of cable barrier in the median. Once work begins, it is expected to be completed in approximately eight weeks. The project also includes the installation of overhead lighting and the removal of the caution flasher at Western Avenue. Work is being performed by Lake Erie Construction, Norwalk.

U.S. 224 just west of state Route 235, west of Findlay, closed July 24 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 224, state Route 235, state Route 12 and state Route 65 back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by BCC Ohio, New London.

Interstate 75

Findlay

Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound from south of the U.S. 68/state Route 15 interchange to county Road 313 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone beginning early next week for pavement removal.

The restriction will be in place from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night for approximately one week.

Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound from just south of County Road 313 (approximately mile marker 155) to county Road 99 (mile marker 161) is restricted to one lane at times through the work zone during nighttime hours only.

Lane restrictions generally occur from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night.

Two lanes in each direction are maintained on I-75 during daytime hours

The Interstate 75 northbound lanes from the U.S. 68/state Route 15 interchange to county Road 99 have been shifted to the right onto the outside shoulder.

Two lanes of traffic are maintained during daytime hours. Some nighttime lane closures will continue.

The legal speed through the work zone is reduced when workers are present.

Speed limits are displayed via electronic message boards which display the legal, posted speed through the zone.

I-75 southbound from just south of the U.S. 68/state Route 15 interchange to county Road 99 is operating in a contraflow traffic pattern.

One lane of southbound traffic is traveling on the northbound side of the interstate, separated by barrier wall, at various locations through the zone.

Motorists on Interstate 75 wishing to access the interchanges at U.S. 224 and state Route 12 should remain in the southbound, far-right lane.

Traffic will generally remain in this pattern throughout the summer.

The legal speed through the work zone is reduced when workers are present.

Speed limits are displayed via electronic message boards which display the legal, posted speed through the zone.

North of Findlay

Work is largely complete but general finish work could continue to restrict traffic at times from county Road 99 to U.S. 20.

U.S. 68/State Route 15 Interchange with I-75

The exit ramp from I-75 northbound to U.S. 68/state Route 15 (exit 156) closed June 19 for approximately three years. Traffic is detoured north to the state Route 12 interchange to I-75 southbound back to U.S. 68/state Route 15.

Related Construction

River Road and Howard Street

River Road and Howard Street, north and south of the Blanchard River beneath Interstate 75, is closed periodically as needed through late fall during reconstruction of the bridge carrying Interstate 75 over the Blanchard River.

Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained.

Harrison Street over Interstate 75

Harrison Street over Interstate 75 closed May 15 for approximately nine months for reconstruction.

Traffic on Interstate 75 in the area of Harrison Street will be restricted to one lane at times for work related to the reconstruction of the bridge.

Access to the Oakwoods Nature Preserve during the closure of the Harrison Street overpass will be available at all times during construction by accessing county Road 144 from the north via Sandusky Street.

Service road construction

Construction of a service road off Lima Avenue connecting to Lake Cascades north of the U.S. 68/state Route 15 interchange is under way. Construction is expected to be complete late this summer.

Noise wall construction

Construction of noise walls in designated areas is expected to begin late this summer.

Work is expected to begin in the south end of the project area and proceed to the north.

Construction of all noise walls is expected to be completed in July 2018.

Hardin County

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair and resurfacing at the following locations. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton:

U.S. 68 in the village of Dunkirk from the south corporation limit to Washington Street

State Route 235 from the south corporation limit of Alger to state Route 309

State Route 235 from the north corporation limit of Ada to the Hancock County line

State Route 81 at township Road 55 east of Ada will be reduced to one lane through the work zone during a drainage tile repair project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.

State Route 385 throughout Hardin County will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for tarring and chipping of the roadway. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.

State Route 31 between township Road 265 and state Route 273, north of Mount Victory, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone beginning August 14 during bridge repair work. Work is being performed by Crossroads Construction, Cambridge.

Traffic will be affected by the project as follows:

The project will occur on a bridge over Painter Creek just south of township Road 206, and a bridge over Wolf Creek north of township Road 265.

Work will affect only one bridge at a time. Traffic will be initially maintained with flaggers.

Work will begin first on the structure over Painter Creek and will continue for approximately two weeks. The crew will then move to the Wolf Creek structure for approximately two weeks

No lane restrictions will occur during nighttime hours or weekends.

In mid September, state Route 31 will close and traffic will be detoured for 14 days. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 292 and state Route 273 back to state Route 31.

Project will complete in early October.

State Route 195 over Cottonwood Ditch, south of McGuffey, is now open following bridge repair.

Putnam County

State Route 613 in the village of West Leipsic will close August 21 for approximately five days for a railroad repair. Traffic detoured onto state Route 65 and county Road 5 back to state Route 613. Work is being performed by CSX Railroad and Vorst Paving.

U.S. 224 in the village of Ottawa will close August 21 for approximately five days for a railroad repair. Traffic detoured onto state Route 235, state Route 12, state Route 65 back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by CSX Railroad and Vorst Paving.

The following routes at various locations will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for cleaning of drainage structures. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage:

State Route 65 in the village of Ottawa just south of U.S. 224

State Route 613

State Route 109

State Route 190 just north of township Road Q, north of Fort Jennings, is now open following a culvert replacement.

Shelby County

State Route 29 between Cisco Road and West Russell Road, Shoulder closures August 7th – November 17th. *There could be intermittent lane closures in this area between 7 am and 4 pm.

State Route 274 between State Route 66 and State Route 29, Daily lane closures July 24th – August 25th between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction.

State Route 274 between I-75 and State Route 65, Daily lane closures July 24th – August 25th between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction.

State Route 29 near State Route 274, Daily lane closures July 24th – August 25th between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm. One lane will remain open in each direction.

State Route 66 between Enterprise Drive and Greenback Road, ROAD CLOSURE July 10th – October 13th. The official detour is: State Route 47 to I-75 to State Route 29 to State Route 705

Amsterdam Road between CR 25A (Sidney) and Heiland Kies Road, ROAD CLOSURE May 15th – August 15th. The official detour is: Amsterdam Road to CR 25A to State Route 274 to Heiland Kies Road to Amsterdam Road

State Route 274 between Sidney-Freyburg Road and Lochard Road, ROAD CLOSURE August 21st – 25th. The official detour is: State Route 274 to I-75 to State Route 119 to State Route 65 to State Route 274.

State Route 274 between Lochard Road and Reineke-Schipper Road, ROAD CLOSURE August 24th – 25th. The official detour is: State Route 274 to I-75 to State Route 119 to State Route 65 to State Route 274.

Van Wert County

State Route 697 throughout Van Wert County will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage.

The following routes and locations will be restricted at times to one lane through the work zone until fall for resurfacing. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay:

U.S. 33 from the Indiana state line to the Mercer County line

State Route 118 from the Mercer County line to Ervin Street

State Route 49 from the Mercer County line to the U.S. 33 overlap

State Route 81 from the Indiana state line to U.S. 33

U.S. 224 from township Road 77 to the CSX railroad

U.S. 30, both eastbound and westbound, is restricted to one lane through the work zone at the following locations for projects which will repair the pavement and joints, improve drainage and resurface the route. The project will complete in October. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay:

From just east of township Road 127 to just east of county Road 185

From U.S. 224 to near the Indiana state line

The ramps at the U.S. 224 interchange with U.S. 30 will be affected by the project as follows:

The exit ramp from U.S. 224 westbound to U.S. 30 and the entrance ramp from U.S. 30 eastbound to U.S. 224 will close concurrently for 21 days at some point in September.

The ramps on the south side of the interchange will remain open.

All ramps at the interchange will be resurfaced.
