AAU track meet coming to Lima for second straight year

LIMA — For the third time in its history and the second year in a row, the Ohio AAU Region Four Track and Field Championships will be held in Lima.

The event will run from June 29 to July 2 at Spartan Stadium. The event will feature 1,200 athletes from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, including the Lima Striders Track Club, competing in all major track events. The top five or six finishers, depending on the event, will move on to compete at the AAU Junior Olympics National Games to be held in July at Eastern Michigan University in Detroit.

The Lima Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the economic impact of hosting these games to be over $1.8 million for the county.
