OVI checkpoint planned along state Route 65 in Lima

LIMA — Law enforcement officials will be on hand from an operating a vehicle while intoxicated checkpoint along state Route 65 on the northern edge of Lima tonight.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Allen County Sheriff’s Office and Lima Police Department announced the checkpoint will be from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. tonight on state Route 65 near Chapman Avenue, near Brower Road.

The checkpoint, funded by federal grants, aims to deter and intercept impaired drivers. It will work with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively stop alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes. Officials urged anyone planning to consume alcohol to designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before drinking.
