3 hurt in Delphos 2-truck crash

DELPHOS — A Delphos man was seriously hurt in a two-truck crash at 7:54 p.m. Friday three miles west of Delphos.

Jake M. Stallkamp, 19, of Delphos, was ejected in the crash, according to a news release from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center, and a nursing supervisor there said he was transferred to OSU Medical Center, Columbus. He was not listed as a patient at OSU Saturday evening, according to an administrator.

Stallkamp was the passenger in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Justin R. Wright, 20, of Van Wert. Wright was driving west on Lincoln Highway just east of Converse Roselm Road, Washington Township, Van Wert County. Wright drove left of center through a curve and drove into the path of an oncoming 1998 Ford Ranger driven by Jennifer L. Harris, 45, of Middle Point.

Harris tried to avoid a collision but struck the rear of the Silverado and came to a stop. The Silverado continued into a yard and struck a tree. Stallkamp, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected. Wright, who also was not wearing a seatbelt, had minor injuries that were treated at the scene.

Harris, who was wearing a seatbelt, had minor injuries. She was treated and released at Van Wert County Hospital.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash, according to the news release. The investigation is continuing.
