LPD: Arrests don’t get much easier

LIMA — The arrest of two local males wanted on felony charges turned out to be a little easier than usual for the Lima Police Department Thursday.

LPD Lt. Andy Green said at about noon, an officer exited the back door of the police department when he noticed a vehicle slowly circling a parking lot located across from the police station that is reserved for City of Lima employees. Green said the officer saw the vehicle leave the lot, circle it and re-enter it. The vehicle then parked in a spot marked as parking for LPD officers only.

With probable cause, the officer then approached the vehicle and began a conversation with two males in the vehicle. Green said a small amount of marijuana was found in the vehicle, and it was discovered both males were wanted by another agency on felony charges. The driver did not have an operator’s license.

Green said the driver claimed to be attempting to park so he could pay on court fines. Both were transported to the County Jail.

Green said names of both individuals were not released because the investigation is continuing. Both subjects are from Lima.
