Teen indicted over home robbery

LIMA — A teenager has pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with a home invasion robbery.

Akeliante McClellan, now 18, is charged with aggravated robbery with a firearm and felonious assault with a firearm. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 18 years in prison.

The incident happened Oct. 26, just three days before McClellan’s 18th birthday, at a house at 628 Cortland Ave., Lima Police Det. Todd Jennings said.

McClelland arrived at the house supposedly to buy a video game system. He then pulled a gun out, and the people at the house tried to stop him, Jennings said.

McClelland fired his gun during the incident, but no one was hit. The people at the home got the gun away from him, and McClellan ran away, Jennings said.

A couple other people went to the home with McClellan, but as soon as they realized he was robbing the people rather than buying the video game system, they took off running. Those people will not be charged, Jennings said.
