Man captured after brief chase in Lima

LIMA — A 45-year-old man was arrested after leading police officers on a short chase Tuesday morning in a stolen vehicle.

Kevin Hill, of Lima, was charged with suspicion of receiving stolen property, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. He was being held in the Allen County jail.

The incident began about 7:30 a.m. as an officer was taking a report of a stolen vehicle from the 500 block of Nova Street overnight, Lima Police Department officials reported.

About the same time, another officer spotted the stolen vehicle in a driveway in the 1100 block of South Union Street, officials reported.

That officer turned around to investigate and saw Hill getting into the car to drive off, officials reported.

The officer tried to make a stop, but Hill drove away and refused to stop. The chase was brief, only one block through an alley, before Hill crashed into the side of a garage and fence at 1207 S. Central Ave., officials reported.

Hill tried to run but quickly was caught by officers, officials reported.
