Classics bring relaxation to owner

FRYBURG — As owner and caretaker of the grounds of Glacier Hills Lakes in Fryburg, Junior Wuebbenhorst finds himself pretty busy most of the time.

Sometimes, he is need of some stress relief. Much of that relief comes in his collection of classic cars. One of his pride and joys is a 1973 Dodge Challenger. Now 65, the car reminds him of his childhood.

“The first car I owned when I was 17-18 was a 1972 Dodge Challenger,” Wuebbenhorst said. “I loved that car.”

Originally, Wuebbenhorst searched all over in hopes of purchasing his original Challenger. However, the search came up empty.

“I have been through the title department and everything,” Wubbenhorst said. “I believe it has been recycled.”

However, Wuebbenhorst came across the 1973 car in nearby Wapakoneta and quickly purchased it.

“I don’t know a whole lot about body work so I had that done,” Wuebbenhorst said.

After the body work was finished, Wuebbenhorst brought the car home and finished up the engine and made other repairs. He is the third owner of the vehicle.

Wuebbenhorst said he likes to take one major trip each year in the car.

“It is my getaway from the camgrouond,” Wuebbenhorst said. “It is my relaxation.”

Wuebbenhorst said he acquired is interest in cars from his father. He said he always was building cars with his father when he was younger.
