Lima, Botkins men killed in 3-car crash on I-75

SIDNEY — A three-car accident that killed two men Monday afternoon on Interstate 75 near Sidney remains under investigation.

Dead are Turaee Manley, 50, of Lima and William Baughman, 78, of Botkins.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, a southbound Ford truck driven by Baughman crossed the median, striking a Nissan Truck driven by Manley. It also collided with a Toyota van that was headed north. Two occupants in the van were taken to Wilson Health in Sidney with non-life threatening injuries. They were later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital where their condition is reported to be stable.

The accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. near the 97-mile mark.

Neither alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in the crash. Deputies are investigating whether a mechanical problem or vehicle defect may have caused the Ford truck to lose control and cross the median.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Department of Transportation and ODNR assisted at the scene.
