Children may have started garage fire

LIMA — Firefighters were looking whether a group of children started a fire that destroyed a garage Sunday.

The fire was called in about 1:15 p.m. at 617 E. Albert St., said Battalion Chief Jack McDermitt of the Lima Fire Department.

Several children were seen leaving the garage just before the fire was noticed, McDermitt said.

No one was injured and damage was reported at $1,000 to the building that is owned by Lima Properties, McDermitt said.
