Man wants new attorney in Lima murder case

LIMA — A 19-year-old man facing the rest of his life in prison over a killing last year wants a new attorney.

Jayleontre Harris is not happy with the working relationship he has with his attorney, Bill Kluge, causing him to seek another attorney to defend him on aggravated murder with a gun, aggravated robbery with a gun and aggravated burglary with a gun. He is accused of killing Eric Staup, 46, on May 19, at Staup’s home at 637 N. Metcalf St. Police said Harris was at the home to rob Staup.

Harris said his family is looking into hiring an attorney. Judge Jeffrey Reed said if his family cannot hire an attorney he would pick another off the court-appointed attorney list.
