Ebola movie ‘Facing Darkness’ to be screened in Lima

LIMA — “Facing Darkness,” a movie about Samaritan’s Purse involvement in the Ebola crisis in 2014 in West Africa, will be screened at 7 p.m. Thursday and April 10 at Regal Cinemas American Mall 12.

Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian organization led by Franklin Graham that responded to the Ebola outbreak by sending medical workers and help. Two doctors helping those with Ebola contracted the virus and lived, which is highly unusual. The film tells the story through interviews and actor portrayals of Dr. Kent Brantly, who contracted Ebola in 2014 and was evacuated to Atlanta and recovered.

Lima resident Tim Mosher, a nurse practitioner at St. Rita’s Medical Center and Samaritan’s Purse volunteer, attended to Brantly during his recovery. His church friends — CrossPoint Community Church, 631 W. Ashton St. — worked for the movie to be screened in Lima.
