Putnam Co. officials raise money for student

OTTAWA — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and workers at the Putnam County Courthouse collected money to buy Ottawa-Glandorf student Tygan Nelson a new varsity jacket and presented it to her at the sheriff’s office.

Nelson, 18, of Continental, was involved in a crash Jan. 28 with Deputy Randy Weller after losing control of her vehicle and driving into his lane. Nelson was hospitalized after the accident. She had to be cut from her vehicle, and health care workers had to cut her previous jacket from her to treat her.
