Tree Rebate Program begins in Lima

LIMA — The city of Lima’s Stormwater Department is promoting the planting of trees within city limits through its Tree Rebate Program, which is now in its second year.

The goal of the program is to plant species suitable to this region in an effort to reduce stormwater runoff and positively impact the city’s aesthetic qualities, according to a statement from the department.

To be eligible for a 50 percent rebate, trees must be planted within city limits. The rebate covers half the cost of purchasing a tree and having it professionally installed.

Trees must be selected from an approved tree list, which can be found at allenswcd.com.

The program runs from through Nov. 30. Rebates will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. For details, call Alaina Morman at 419-223-0040, ext. 101, or email [email protected].
