American Township house fire blamed on pellet stove

AMERICAN TOWNSHIP — No one was injured early Friday in a house fire that caused $10,000 in damage.

The fire at 1285 N. Copus Road was reported at 4:15 a.m. The home is owned and occupied by Dawn Carter, said American Township Fire Platoon Chief Joel Will.

The fire started in the area of a pellet stove in the wall due to a failure in the chimney of the stove, Will said.
