Fresh Encounter stores donate 72K meals to West Ohio Food Bank

LIMA — Fresh Encounter Inc., the corporate owner of Chief Supermarkets and Community Markets, donated 72,520 meals to the West Ohio Food Bank on Thursday as part of its third-annual “Thanks for Giving” holiday food drive.

The initiative was available at all Chief, Community Markets, Sack ‘n Save and Great Scot! supermarkets in Ohio. For every turkey purchased by customers during the month of November, Fresh Encounter donated eight meals to the West Ohio Food Bank.

The West Ohio Food Bank services 11 surrounding counties. Donations that come in are used to feed those in need, especially during the winter months, a press release stated.
