Elida farmer declares his vote from the heavens

ELIDA — In one of the most divisive presidential elections in history, a farmer in rural Elida is making it no secret of who he will be supporting.

Sitting out among Dennis Kahle’s soybean field among his some 300 acres of farmland is a message he is hoping other voters will adhere to. Simply, in one word, underlined, from the sky can be seen the name “Trump.”

Kahle said he got the idea while working the field just days ago.

“I just got the thinking about it and thought, why not.” Kahle said. “I talked to the wife and kids and they said do it.”

Kahle said it was the most important election in recent history and did not hide his reasons why. He said issues such as abortion and gun rights are important to him.

“I think this country went the wrong way under [President Barack] Obama,” Kahle said. “I think it will continue that way if Hillary [Clinton] is elected. I just think one is thinking of America and the other isn’t. I like the way [Donald Trump] thinks on immigration and taxes. He does what he says and is not a liar. He is a whole lot better of the two.”

The picture was taken by Scott Jordan with a drone. Kahle said it looked just as he pictured it. Amazingly, it took him very little time to complete the masterpiece.

“It took me all of 10 minutes,” Kahle said.

As far as a prediction, Kahle said it is hard to tell and he feels it will be a very close election.

“I think it will be very close but I have a sneaking suspicion that Trump will pull it out,” Kahle said. “She comes with too much luggage. I think there are a lot of people that will vote for Trump that haven’t said so because they don’t want the problems that come with saying they will vote for him.”
