Woman arrested following bank robbery

LIMA — Deputies arrested a woman following a bank robbery Monday and said they believe she is the same woman who robbed the same bank last week.

Nicole Shoopman, 26, of Pandora, was charged with aggravated robbery. She is expected to appear at a bond hearing Wednesday at Lima Municipal Court.

The robbery occurred at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Fifth Third Bank on Harding Highway. A witness provided a possible vehicle description and license plate number, Allen County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jimmy Everett said.

The vehicle was located in Pandora later in the day. Pandora police officers and a Putnam County deputy took Shoopman into custody. Shoopman was believed to be the same woman who robbed the same bank last week, Everett said.

During last week’s robbery, a woman wore sunglasses and gave the teller a note demanding money. During the second robbery, Monday, a woman pulled out a weapon and told the teller, “Don’t make me hurt you,” Everett said.

The handgun, although appearing real, turned out to be a BB gun, Sgt. Mark Baker said.

She demanded money and left the bank, he said.

Not a lot is known about Shoopman’s background but investigators were looking into it, Everett said.

Shoopman has lived in Pandora for the past three years. Investigators were trying to learn where she came from before that, Baker said.

The FBI was assisting the Allen County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
