5 arrested for drunken driving near police checkpoint in Lima

LIMA — Five people were arrested for drunken driving Friday near a police checkpoint held at West Robb Avenue near North Metcalf Street.

The five were caught by saturated units working near the checkpoint. All together, 475 vehicles passed through the checkpoint from 9 p.m. to midnight. No arrest were made at the checkpoint.

The checkpoint was held not only to get impaired drivers off the road but to educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving. Anyone who plans to drink should find an alternative way home, officials said.
