OVI checkpoint planned in Lima tonight

LIMA — Drivers on Robb Avenue near Metcalf Street in Lima may be stopped for a checkpoint for operating a vehicle while intoxicated tonight.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Friday morning it, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and Lima Police Department would hold a checkpoint from 9 p.m. to midnight on Robb Avenue near Metcalf Street.

The checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, aims to deter and intercept impaired drivers. It will be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.
