Midwest Electric donates nearly $15,000 to area charities

Members of Midwest Electric donated $14,419 to 16 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative’s Community Connection Fund.

Since the program started in 1998, the Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund has provided $920,333 to 747 area projects.

Recipients included:

•St. Marys Middle School health class, $1,519 to buy baby infant simulators and software.

•American Township Fire Department, $1,500 to purchase a rescue drone.

•Kiwanis Club of Delphos, $1,500 towards the splash pad at the city swimming pool.

•Mercer County Council on Aging, $1,500 to upgrade to a digital radio communications system.

•West Ohio Food Bank, $1,250 to buy infrared temperature devices for food safety.

•Family Care Options, Celina, $1,000 to build a wheelchair accessible exit.

•Lima’s Samaritan House, $1,000 to help with restroom and building updates.

•Grand Lake Christian School, $800 to purchase laptop computers for students.

•St. Anthony Dinner Theater, Ft. Recovery, $750 to help build a handicap bathroom for a local family.

•Resource and Opportunity Center, St. Marys, $700 to buy materials for a budgeting class for low income families.

•YMCA of Van Wert County, $500 to support senior citizen programs.

•Mercer County Fairgrounds, $500 towards a new building on the fairgrounds.

•Lima Symphony Orchestra, $500 for the Young People’s Concert.

•Delphos Senior Citizens, $500 for the Matter of Balance fall prevention program.

•Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership, $500 to help install a heating unit in the garage.

•Sugar Creek Township Park, $400 to seal the blacktop tennis courts and basketball court.
