12-year-old boy on bicycle injured in crash with car in Shelby County

SIDNEY — A 12-year-old boy was injured early Tuesday evening when he rode through a stop sign and was struck by a car.

The boy, whose name was not being released pending notification of his family, was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney and then transported to Dayton’s Children’s Hospital by medical helicopter, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Sidney Plattsville Road and Bulle Road in Orange Township. A car was driving west on Sidney Plattsville Road approaching the intersection of Bulle Road. The boy was south on Bulle Road when, witnesses said, he failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the path of the car, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
