Delphos water line breaks, requires boiling water and closing pool

DELPHOS — A water line broke early Monday in Delphos. While crews have repaired the leak, city officials ask people to boil and conserve water.

The Delphos Department of Utilities announced in a statement that a 12-inch water line broke on South Main Street between the railroad and Cleveland Avenue early Monday. Just before noon, the city announced it had repaired the lines.

Crews pressurized the lines Monday afternoon and asked residents to conserve water until the system was completely pressurized.

Delphos issued a water boil advisory until further notice. It recommended boiling water for several minutes before using.

Water may be discolored and cloudy, so Delphos officials recommended avoiding laundry until the advisory was lifted.

The city also has a potable water drink station set up at the municipal building, 608 N. Canal St., for residents needing water. You need to bring your own water containers.

The Delphos swimming pool will be closed Tuesday because of the low water pressure.

Area media will notify residents of a boil water cancellation after the necessary sampling and analyses are done. If customers have questions, they should call the Delphos utility office at 419-695-4010.
