Ada pedestrian dies after being struck on rural road

HARROD — A 25-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a car over the weekend and deputies continued to investigate the circumstances of the incident Monday.

Robert L. Burdette Weyer, of Ada, was in the roadway at 3 a.m. Sunday in the 9900 block of Reservoir Road between Pevee and Shrider roads, when he was struck by a westbound vehicle, Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish said.

“We’re trying to determine whether he was walking, sitting or lying down,” Crish said.

Weyer was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was sent to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, Crish said.

The driver of the vehicle, Hunter Allen, 19, of Ada, was not cited. Allen was on his way to Lima, and he had not been drinking, Crish said.

The autopsy will determine if Weyer had been drinking, Crish said.

Crish said deputies want to determine why Weyer was on the road, and they are seeking friends and family to talk to.

“We are trying to backtrack his evening. We are reaching out to people to try to find out why he was there at that time of night,” Crish said.

Weyer, a 2010 graduate of Ada High School, worked at Lowe’s Distribution Center, according to his obituary at Hanson & Neely Funeral Home. He leaves behind a son, Seth Michael Robert Foster, as well as his father, mother, stepfather, brother, sister and stepbrother. Funeral information wasn’t yet finalized Monday.
