Lima eastside Dollar General robber caught

LIMA — A Lima man was arrested for robbery after a reported incident at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dollar General, 1330 Bellefontaine St.

Shandell Hodge, 48, of Lima, was arrested a few blocks away on East Eureka Street with the aid of civilians in the area.

According to the report, a black male suspect entered the store wearing a ball cap, sun glasses, a long-sleeved hooded sweat shirt, dark pants and a cloth covering his face. He approached one of the cashiers, took her to the register, acting as if he was concealing a weapon and demanding the money from the register. Once he had the money, the suspect fled from the store and ran westbound through yards and alleys.

Personnel from the Lima Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were able to quickly locate Hodge with help from residents. Hodge confessed to committing the robbery and assisted in recovering evidence and the stolen cash, that he dropped or discarded along his flight path.

Hodge is currently being held at Allen County Sheriff’s Office. Additional charges may be sought through the Allen County Grand Jury.
