I-75 chase goes from Beaverdam to Cridersville

LIMA — A high-speed chase Thursday afternoon on Interstate 75 saw the fleeing vehicle being driven south in the northbound lane of traffic and crashing into two state patrol cars.

The chase began near Beaverdam and ended near Cridersville. The two suspects taken into custody were being sought in Hancock County on various charges.

At 12:32 p.m., a trooper from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol attempted to stop the vehicle in the southbound lane. The driver did not stop and the pursuit began. Troopers deployed Stop Sticks at milepost 130 near Bluelick Road and deflated the left front tire of the vehicle. The suspect, Shawn Gregory, 22, of Fisherville, Kenucky, then intentionally struck the trooper’s vehicle and continued to flee.

The suspect drove over a paved crossover and continued south in the northbound lane of I-75. Troopers intentionally struck the suspect vehicle and disabled it at mile post 116 near Cridersville in Auglaize County.

Gregory and a passenger, Kaylee Herman, 21, of Louisville, Kentucky, were taken into custody without further incident.

The suspects were wanted in connection with another stolen vehicle in Hancock County and are also suspects in several theft cases involving unoccupied vehicles. Charges will be filed after the investigation is completed. The suspects are incarcerated in the Allen County Jail.

Assistance was provided by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, Shawnee Township Police Department, Cridersville Police Department and Army’s Towing Service.
