1 injured in Elida duplex fire Monday afternoon

ELIDA — One person was injured Monday afternoon when a fire broke out in a duplex at about 2:15 p.m.

According to a report, firefighters were called to 1470 Sheridan Drive for a fire at the duplex. Fire investigators said the fire started in the front corner of the garage.

Residents were home in both sides of the duplex but most escaped without injury. One resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Damage was estimated at $42,000 and there was smoke damage in the adjoining apartment of the duplex.

The incident remained under investigation late Monday and no further information was being released.
