2-vehicle crash in Shelby County leaves 1 dead

SIDNEY — A two-vehicle crash left one dead late Saturday in Shelby County.

The Adams Township-Rosewood Fire Department was notified at 10:57 p.m. of the accident, which took place at the intersection of Middleton Hume Road and state Route 589 in Green Township. A 2002 Toyota pickup was westbound on Middleton Hume Road when the driver, Edward Paul Fitzpatrick, failed to stop at the intersection.

Upon entering the intersection, he was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Gregory A. Petry. Fitzpatrick’s vehicle traveled off the road and overturned several times in a cornfield. Fitzpatrick was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Petry did not suffer any injuries from the crash.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office refused to release any other details of the accident, including confirming the date and time of the accident.
