Fatal Allen Co. crashes on pace with last year

LIMA — The number of people killed on roads in Allen County through April has equaled that of last year.

There have been three fatalities in two crashes this year in the first four months. During the same period last year there were three crashes that killed three people, the Lima-Allen Safe Community Coalition reported.

One of the fatal crashes involved alcohol or drugs, and in two of the crashes people were not wearing seat belts, the coalition reported.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports a fatal crash has a comprehensive cost of $5.38 million.
