Putnam County resident recognized

CONTINENTAL — Chelsea Matson, of Continental, was recognized by Northwest State Community College, in Archbold. Matson was given an award of merit, which are chosen by faculty from the respective divisions based on leadership involvement, special talents or abilities in their academic field and significant contributions to Northwest State.

Matson is studying practical nursing.

Waynesfield grad member of honor society

WAPAKONETA — Mackenzie Turner, of Wapakoneta, is a member of the Alpha Gamma Omega Nu Honor Society at Ashland University.

Turner is majoring in exercise science.

She is the daughter of Deb and Kim Turner, of Wapakoneta, and is a 2013 graduate of Waynesfield High School.

University of Findlay students participate in symposium

FINDLAY — Nearly 600 students at the University of Findlay participated in the annual Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity. Held on campus, undergraduate and graduate students were given the opportunity to share their research, creativity and professional learning experiences with the University and community. Many students received honors during the Symposium’s awards ceremony.

Rhodes State College Foundation Awards Student Scholarships

LIMA — The 19th Annual Rhodes State College Scholarship Awards reception was held. For the 2016-17 academic year, the Rhodes State College Foundation has 142 scholarship awards totaling $127,500 to award to students. Over the past 17 years, the Foundation has awarded 1,757 scholarship awards to students totaling almost $1.9 million through endowed and annual scholarships.

Dukehart to graduate from Hope College

ELIDA — Ian Dukehart, son of Joseph and Bethany Dukehart, of Elida, will graduate Sunday with a bachelor of arts degree in exercise science from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
