4 hospitalized in Friday afternoon crash in Putnam County

OTTAWA — Several people were injured in a head-on crash Friday.

Rebecca Corkwell, 32, of Ottawa, was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Toledo for treatment. She was not wearing a seat belt. A 3-year-old child in the vehicle, not properly restrained, was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center for treatment, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Shelbie Blossom, 19, of Ottawa, was taken to St. Rita’s for treatment. She was wearing a seat belt. A 6-year-old passenger in her car also was taken to St. Rita’s to be examined. The girl was in a booster seat, the patrol reported.

Blossom was driving east on state Route 15 at 5:41 p.m. when her vehicle collided head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by Corkwell. Blossom’s vehicle drove off the right side of the road where it stopped, the patrol reported

The crash remained under investigation Saturday evening.
