Man facing heroin charges seeks new attorney

LIMA — A man facing charges accusing of running a major heroin operation told a judge Friday he was getting a new attorney.

Anthony Duvernay 39, is charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, trafficking heroin, possession of heroin and illegal manufacture of drugs. Several of the charges carry a major drug offender and forfeiture specification.

The judge gave Duvernay 10 days to hire another attorney. His trial is scheduled for June 20.

His codefendant, Marvin Thomas, 45, pleaded no contest Thursday to possession of heroin with a major drug offender and forfeiture of a vehicle specification, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity with a vehicle forfeiture specification, and having a firearm under a court sanction. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 13 and faces up to 25 years in prison.

The two men were charged after officers found 4.4 pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of $330,000 in multiple vehicles in October.
