LIMA — A man facing prostitution and human trafficking charges wants his statements to police tossed, saying his constitutional rights were violated.
An attorney for Lorenzo Young, 30, said he was not read a Miranda warning advising him of his constitutional rights, including against self-incrimination. But Assistant Allen County Prosecutor Tony Miller said during the hearing Friday the detective who interviewed Young read him the rights before two separate statements, and that was captured on video tape along with the interviews.
Judge David Cheney said he would review the tapes and issue a decision at a later time.
Young and Aundre Davis, 33, both are charged with two counts of compelling prostitution with human trafficking charges, two counts of promoting prostitution with human trafficking charges, two counts of promotion prostitution and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity with human trafficking charges.
Police accuse Young and Davis of posting an ad on an Internet site to arrange sex for hire. The men were using an adult woman and a 16-year-old girl and splitting the money with them. A detective posed as a man seeking sex, and police set up a sting where they nabbed the men.
